Set in the late 17^th century in Scotland. Two English sisters journey to Scotland to start a school for the local people in a castle that their brother bought (or so he thought). They quickly realize that on top of learning to read, cipher numbers, and serve tea, the girls need to learn how to defend themselves against both Scottish and English villains. The school becomes a self-defense school, and the pupils are called the Roses (beautiful but with dangerous thorns).
